Viva

Viva

The first full-length feature by LA-based artist and filmmaker Anna Biller (The Hypnotist; A Visit From The Incubus), VIVA is "a spot-on spoof of low-grade late 60s/early 70s sexploitation flicks" (Variety) that joyously and faithfully pays homage to the classics of the genre.Written by, directed by and starring Biller, the film is a highly stylized, super-colour-saturated, satirical romp through the kind of camp sleaze and nudge-nudge wink-wink jocularity that will be all too familiar to fans of Herschell Gordon Lewis' "Suburban Roulette", Radley Metzger's "Camille 2000" and Russ Meyer's "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls". Biller's remarkable attention to detail and painstakingly accurate recreation of the trash aesthetics that make the sexploitation genre so enjoyable have led to Fangoria magazine describing VIVA as "incredible, experimental, hilarious and hotter than hell in June? a film that needs to be seen by any self-respecting trash movie enthusiast."Biller stars as Barbi, a voluptuous, bored suburban housewife with a workaholic husband, Rick (Chad England), who, although perfect in most ways is indifferent to her physical and emotional needs. To get through the monotony of her days, Barbi turns to the companionship of her wealthy, swinging neighbours, Sheila (Bridget Brno) and Mark (Jared Sanford). It's not long before both couples decide to split up, prompting the newly liberated Sheila to drag Barbi headlong into the middle of the burgeoning sexual revolution. Changing her name to Viva, the once innocent housewife embarks on a wild ride in search of love and adventure. It's a journey that takes her into a world full of new experiences, from bisexual liaisons to psychedelic, drug-fuelled orgies and from bohemian nudist colonies to high-class brothels.Looking like a lost film from the late 1960s, VIVA is a fun and loving tribute to the pre-porn era of cinema, when copies of "Playboy" could be found alongside "Time" magazine on the coffee tables of gaudily decorated living rooms all across America. For fans of B-movie exploitation cinema, kinky softcore, high-camp comedy and all things retro, VIVA is a must.

CloudMuzik brings Google Music to Windows Phone 8

I use Google Music for storing any playing my music collection and it?s a service I really missed when I was using Windows Phone 8. CloudMuzik had a Windows Phone 7 app but it wouldn?t work on Windows Phone 8 but they have just released a Windows Phone 8 version. With the app you can browse your full music library, play any of the songs and pin songs or albums to the start screen. There is even offline support so it will download and cache the music on your phone.

I gave it a try on my 8X and it seemed to work very well, I liked being able to pin albums to the start screen, plus there is social sharing built in using the accounts you already have on the phon. The app is free and if you use Google Music it?s an essential for Windows Phone

CloudMuzik is a Google Play Music client specifically made for WP8 phones.

The application supports the following:

* Full Library support

* Full Refresh of music library

* Refresh of latest songs uploaded

* Playlist support

How to get Seacret Direct Leads Online | Deborah Peters | Artist ...

Dec 28, 2012 by Deborah

seacret direct leadsSeacret Direct Leads.

Friends, no matter what business you?re in, in gaining customers and Seacret Direct Leads, I?ve learned the hard way marketing and sales come down to many things, but your foundation strategy will always be:

1. Demographics 2. Target Audience

And then, sales of any kind always come back to the close?which is?wait for it?it is?it?s?.can you guess?

3. Feeling

Crazy, huh? All sales come down to how your customer ?feels? when buying what your product, or joining your opportunity. This includes your Seacret Direct Leads. It?s how it makes them feel, which goes into a whole psychology of the ?story? wrapped around the entire picture.

For example, I have a friend who is a western bronze artist. He himself, his story is being the rustic cowboy and his clients are those that also wish to be part of this ?story? as well. People buy when they identify. The same goes for my horse paintings selling out of the aspen galleries, my clients that buy those are wrapping themselves in a horse story and where it extends; it?s either a fond childhood memory, the present country life, or fiery spirit of the west. Now, in the art business, there are two markets: those that purchase original art, and those that purchase prints.

In order to find Seacret Direct leads, you have to know where to market yourself.

For example, as an artist, if I exhibit at a weekend show that sells real well for prints, and I show up with only originals and have no sales?whose fault is it? After all, I?m showing the ?business to everyone? as you?re told to do in network marketing. No sales come down to my fault, because I didn?t take the time to understand the audience.

So, once you know how sales are done, now all you have to do is hone in on what your business, & product is and the story behind it. Since Seacret Direct Leads are Agent targeted, you?ll want to think about those types of people. Driven, independent, and looking for great opportunities. So knowing this, it makes no sense to put your energy into prospects that do not possess those qualities.

Enjoy the video of our story to share with you in this arena!

As above, the simple tried and true tested strategy for all businesses and Seacret Direct Leads is to sort, not sell. And it?s a numbers game. You have to sort your numbers, a small percentage of those numbers will join your Seacret Direct business. Streamline your time and get the numbers with going online. After years of online marketing and knowing the ins and outs of ?first page of Google?, web traffic, and targeted audience testing, you will find this viral online system is the easiest, most effective way to be generating leads into your business, after your warm market for Seacret Direct leads has fizzled.

Here?s why it is so powerful:

1. Pre-Qualified leads searching you out, wanting to know about your business
2. Streamlines your time, so you?re not wasting it on those really not interested
3. Positions you as a leader, problem solver with real solution
4. Very simple, daily action plan doable in a few hours
5. Doable anywhere with internet access

I?ve been at this awhile, and have never seen anything so simple nor cost effective. Click this link, you?ll see my mentors Dave Wood and Dave Sharp in the trenches themselves! That?s definitely another thing; being able to follow a model of what the top income leaders in this industry are actually doing, in real time. You?re not getting the ?Do as I say, not as I do? model.

To your Prosperity!

PS: Even if you?re not looking for Seacret Direct leads, and you?re in another company you love ? I?m not a hater, this system will work for you too!!

Moog Music tacks on Grateful Dead expansion pack to Animoog 2.0 (video)

Late last week, Moog Music rolled out version 2.0 of its Animoog synthesizer app for Apple's slate. Now, the Asheville, North Carolina outfit is adding a truckload of new sounds less than a week after the initial release. The Grateful Dead Expansion Pack is now available for the iPad software, touting 82 presets and 45 timbres broken down into ensemble, percussion and vocal groupings. Each piece of the add-on was taken from a February 1968 performance at the Carousel Ballroom and optimized for the Animoog platform. "We're not simply providing samples from the Grateful Dead's body of work, rather we've distilled the essence of notes and phrases in a different way to transform these performances into new instruments -- new voices," says Cyril Lance, Moog's Chief Engineer. The $4.99 in-app purchase is available now, but while you're mulling it over, jump down past the break to catch a glimpse of Mickey Hart taking it for a spin.

Choosing Between Computer Science and Information Technology ...

What Computer Science Engineering Encompasses:

Computer Science is a branch of engineering which is also a subset of electronic engineering. Computer software engineers design, develop, and test software. There are software engineers who design, construct, and maintain computer programs for companies and some of them sets up networks such as "intranets" for companies. Computer software engineers can also work in application design which includes designing or coding new programs and applications to meet the needs of a business or individual.

A computer engineer will be exposed to electronic engineering, software designs, and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering.

Computer engineers are exposed to many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design, writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing operating systems.

In computer Science engineering, there are various subjects which the students would be exposed to. Some of the subjects that are included as a part of the syllabus are operating systems, Microprocessor, Database Management Systems, Data Structures, C programming language, Java programming language, Software engineering, C++ programming, Unix operating systems, Networking, Computer Graphics, Computer architecture etc.

Difference between Computer Science engineering and Information Science engineering

The study of computer science can range from the theoretical studies of algorithms to the practical issues that come with the use of computing systems. Studies in computer science usually focus on software design and creation, computational theory, computer design, and involve a great deal of mathematics.

Mathematics and algorithms are very dominant across Computer Science programs and courses. A typical program in Computer Science will include Programming principles, Programming paradigms, Data structures, Algorithms, Computer architecture, Logic and computation, and Mathematics

Individuals with Computer Science Degrees have a variety of options when it comes to choosing their career track. Most of the professionals in this field obtain jobs that deal with designing software, developing websites, designing computers or providing maintenance to computing systems and hardware.

Information technology is a branch of engineering which deals with using computers and telecommunications to send, receive, and store information i.e. uses electronic computers and computer software to store, protect, process, transmit and securely retrieve data. This is a comparatively a new field that has developed over the past years and the companies now depend heavily on information technology to function. Studies in Information technology focus on system analysis, software management and networking, information assurance, and informatics. Programs in this area train students to manage networks efficiently. A program in Information Technology also includes Project management, Problem solving, Policy consultation, Technology research methods, and IT plan development.

Information Technology professionals are employed as network administrators, database administrators, systems administrators, telecommunications specialists, and network engineers. A degree in Information Technology allows individuals to enter the same job market as individuals with Computer Science degrees, but also provides them with the option of working with networks and telecommunications.

Companies are open to hiring students of both fields. Hence, the students can choose a field which captures your interests.

Canadian dollar flat and quiet as investors watch U.S. talks

TORONTO (Reuters) - The Canadian dollar was largely unchanged against its U.S. counterpart in quiet trading on Thursday as investors wait for developments in the U.S. budget talks to avert a fiscal cliff and square positions ahead of the year-end.

Markets have been in limbo since last week when President Barack Obama and U.S. lawmakers suspended talks until after Christmas on avoiding $600 billion of spending cuts and tax increases that some economists say threaten to send the economy back into recession.

"We're starting off very quietly as we did yesterday," said Matt Perrier, a director of foreign exchange sales at BMO Capital Markets.

"We may see some year-end things that corporates need to get done, that will hopefully give us some movement, and we've also got the whole fiscal cliff situation coming down to the wire, so there is potential for things to move, we'll just have to wait and see."

At 8:43 a.m. (1343 GMT), the Canadian dollar stood at C$0.9921 versus the U.S. dollar, or $1.0080, just slightly weaker than Monday's North American session close at C$0.9913 versus the U.S. dollar, or $1.0088.

North American markets were closed on December 25 and most Canadian markets remained shut on Wednesday for Boxing Day, so Thursday was the first day of normal trade since markets closed on Monday, Christmas Eve.

Efforts to prevent the U.S. economy from going over a "fiscal cliff" stirred back to life on Wednesday with less than a week to go before potentially disastrous tax hikes and spending cuts kick in at the New Year.

In a sign that there may be a way through deadlock in Congress, Republican House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner urged the Democrat-controlled Senate to act to pull back from the cliff and offered to at least consider any bill the upper chamber produced.

President Barack Obama will try to revive budget crisis talks - which stalled last week - when he returns to Washington on Thursday after cutting short his Christmas holiday in Hawaii.

BMO's Perrier said he doesn't expect much movement in the Canadian dollar as 2012 draws to a close, given the tight range it has traded in recent weeks.

"It will probably close around these levels, in the C$0.9850 and C$0.9950 area. There is certainly some uncertainty with respect to what happens in the U.S. - if we get a fiscal cliff deal or we don't see a fiscal cliff deal - that could create some movement into tomorrow or Monday," he said.

"But given the price action in the last couple of weeks, I'd think we'll probably close (2012) around where we are now."

Canadian government bond prices edged lower along the longer end of the curve. The two-year bond was down 4.5 Canadian cents, yielding 1.147 percent, while the benchmark 10-year bond fell 3 Canadian cents to yield 1.822 percent.

What to Look For When Comparing Auto Repair Shops

Most auto body repair shops offer similar warranties on parts and service. However, there are some smaller nuances that the average customer might not notice right off the bat. According to Jeff Odum of Evergreen Autoworks in Bothell, WA, a body repair shop that handles both repair work and mechanical work is almost always going to give consumers the biggest bang for their buck.

When a customer brings his vehicle to a body repair shop in Bothell, WA, that handles both body work and engine work, he can feel confident that his vehicle won?t have to be transported to a separate repair facility regardless of the defects that are uncovered.

At Evergreen Autoworks, Odum and his team run a mechanical repair facility that also performs body repair. In Bothell, WA, the majority of body shops strictly handle body work. From the outside, this doesn?t seem like much of a problem. After all, most people aren?t bringing their vehicles to a body repair shop in Bothell, WA, for mechanical work in the first place. Where this can be a problem, however, is when certain mechanical problems are uncovered over the course of a basic body repair job.

If any mechanical repairs need to be done ? such as, work to the vehicle?s electrical, suspension, and other things of that nature that can easily be damaged in an accident ? then an auto body shop would traditionally need to tow the vehicle to another facility in order for those repairs to be performed. The majority of technicians working in basic auto body shops are not trained in mechanical work, which means they are not equipped to handle all the issues that can arise in vehicle collision accidents.

By working with a mechanical shop that also handles body repair in Bothell, WA, drivers can prevent against having their vehicles towed to separate facilities for repairs. All of the work that Evergreen Autoworks does is in-house, which is a competitive advantage that other repair shops in the Bothell area cannot provide.

Another advantage that Evergreen Autoworks has over the competition is its history. Evergreen Autoworks has been a top-rated, family owned and operated business since 1968. The company offers lifetime warranties on all of its work, which provides a sense of assurance to vehicle owners who are not sure where to turn for help.

For more information, Odum recommends contacting his company directly and setting up an appointment with a qualified technician.

Stranded by winter storm? Tips for fliers

NEW YORK (AP) ? A massive winter storm is disrupting travel plans for tens of thousands of fliers trying to get home after Christmas. Snow, thunderstorms, sleet, tornados and high winds have grounded planes in the nation's midsection and are expected to slow operations on the East Coast.

Delays racked up from Dallas to Indianapolis to Chicago. By 3 p.m. EST Wednesday, more than 1,100 flights nationwide had been scrapped, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.com.

More cancelations are likely throughout the evening, with Washington, New York and Philadelphia expected to see the largest problems. For instance, wind gusts at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport could exceed 50 mph Wednesday night, according to FlightAware.

Passengers are pretty much at the mercy of Mother Nature and the airlines. But there are a few things they can do to improve their odds of getting home quickly.

? If you miss your connection, the airlines will automatically rebook you on the next available flight. However, with flights at near capacity, the next open seat could be several days away. Two years ago, some Christmas fliers had to wait nearly a week to get home.

? If you're unhappy with your rebooked flight, get in line to speak to a customer service representative. But also, pick up the phone and call the airline directly, go onto the airline's website and even consider sending a Tweet.

? Consider buying a one-day pass to the airline lounge. It's a nice place to relax away from the crowd and there are usually free drinks and small snacks. But the real secret to the lounges is that the airline staffs them with some of its best ? and friendliest ? ticket agents. The lines inside will be much shorter and these agents are magically able to find empty seats where nobody else can. One-day passes typically cost $50 per person.

How to Fix a Nail Pop in Your WallAs my six-year-old house has settled in, a few nails have popped out of the wall between drywall and wooden studs throughout seasons of the wood swelling and contracting. The easy way to remedy this situation is to drive in a drywall screw near the nail pop to keep the drywall paper in place and drive the nail into the stud, dimple the surface of the drywall around the nail by tapping it with the handle of a putty knife, and fill in both the dimple and the head of the new screw with drywall filler.

The weblog of home improvement magazine The Family Handyman shares this with eight other tips on how to prepare interior walls for painting. Make sure to check out the source link below if you're planning on this activity in the near future.

Elwood Jensen, Cincinnati Professor Nominated For Nobel For Cancer Research, Dies At 92

CINCINNATI -- Elwood Jensen, an award-winning University of Cincinnati professor nominated for the Nobel Prize for medicine for work that opened the door to advances in fighting cancer, has died of pneumonia. He was 92.

Jensen died Sunday, the university announced Thursday. He was nominated multiple times for the Nobel Prize for his discovery of hormone receptors while at the University of Chicago in the 1950s and 1960s.

Back then, Jensen focused on the impact breast tissue had on estrogen, whereas most other researchers were looking at how the hormone influenced tissue. At the time, the standard treatment for breast cancer was to take out the ovaries or adrenal glands, but after creating a way to radioactively tag estrogen, Jensen found that only a third of breast tumors carry estrogen receptors.

The discovery allows doctors today to identify which patients will respond to anti-estrogen therapy and which need chemotherapy or radiation. The ground-breaking finding has helped doctors treat breast, thyroid and prostate cancer.

Jensen was repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Prize and won dozens of awards for his work, including a Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research, a prize that is considered America's Nobel.

Dr. Sohaib Khan, a professor of cancer biology at Cincinnati and a friend of Jensen's, said Jensen's greatest disappointment in life was not winning the Nobel ? he even brought it up during their last conversation about a week before his death.

"He was talking about how fortunate he was to live a life like he has," Khan said. "But one qualm he had was that he did not get the Nobel Prize. He felt pretty strongly that he really deserved it, and most people in the field think exactly the same way."

Nobel Prizes are not awarded post-humously.

Khan called Jensen's work "monumental" and described the man as down-to-earth, humble, funny and always ready to tell an old story from his boxing days in college or when he climbed the 14,690-foot Matterhorn in the Alps in 1947.

Jensen also worked to encourage young people to study science and stick with it, including current University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono.

The two first met in 1980 when Elwood ? by then already an icon in his field ? was teaching at the University of Chicago and Ono was a freshman.

Ono said that even though he wasn't his student, Elwood "was warm and gracious," spent more than an hour speaking to him about his interest in medical research and offered him advice he'll never forget.

"I will forever be grateful for his encouragement of my career," Ono said in a statement.

Jensen grew up in Springfield in western Ohio and graduated from Wittenberg College. He got his doctorate in organic chemistry at the University of Chicago.

For the past 10 years, Jensen was a professor at the University of Cincinnati's department of cell biology, neurobiology and anatomy. He had been teaching at the university since 2002 after leaving the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, where he was the Nobel visiting professor.

He is survived by his wife and two grown children, a daughter living in New Hampshire and a son living in Ecuador.

A memorial service is tentatively set for Jan. 10 at the university's Vontz Center for Molecular Studies.

GLHFCasting ? auto insurance-40391

auto insurance 40391 There are more cars and drivers on the road each year. This could lead to a higher possibility of a car accident for you and your family. Car insurance can be the difference between a small setback and a large hassle. But why do you need to own insurance and just how much should you buy? Required coverage varies by state/province but usually includes the following: Liability: This type of insurance will pay for the damage that you are responsible for. These damages might include bodily injury, and property damage. Damages from bodily injury include medical fees, and lost wages. Property damage can refer to car repair costs or loss of use of property. It can also cover your legal fees if you are sued. Local laws usually mandate minimum amounts, but higher amounts are available and very beneficial. Personal Injury Protection: Personal injury protection pays for the medical treatment for you or other people in your car, no matter who was responsible for the collision. It is mandated in some states and optional in others. The minimum amount of personal injury protection is usually set by the state. Medical Payments: Medical payment coverage is available in non-no-fault states; it pays regardless of who may have been at fault. All necessary medical or funeral expenses will be covered under this type of coverage. Collision: Pays for damages to your car caused by an accident. Comprehensive: This type of insurance protection takes care of any damages not caused by a collision. This could include weather damage, vandalism, and robbery. Uninsured Motorist: If you are hit by a driver without insurance or a hit-and-run driver, this type of insurance will protect you. Under-Insured Motorist: Pays for collision expenses when an insured person is injured in an accident caused by a driver who does not have the right amount of insurance to pay for the full cost of the damages. Other kinds of car insurance, like emergency road service, can also be purchased.

Judge OKs settlement in BP class action suit

NEW ORLEANS (AP) ? A federal judge on Friday gave final approval to BP's settlement with businesses and individuals who lost money because of the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP PLC has estimated it will pay $7.8 billion to resolve economic and medical claims from more than 100,000 businesses and individuals hurt by the nation's worst offshore oil spill. The settlement has no cap; the company could end up paying more or less.

U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier, who gave his preliminary approval in May, made it final in a 125-page ruling released Friday evening.

"None of the objections, whether filed on the objections docket or elsewhere, have shown the Settlement to be anything other than fair, reasonable, and adequate," he wrote.

BP and attorneys for the plaintiffs said they were pleased.

"We believe the settlement, which avoids years of lengthy litigation, is good for the people, businesses and communities of the Gulf and is in the best interests of BP's stakeholders," company spokesman Scott Dean said in a statement emailed to The Associated Press. "Today's decision by the Court is another important step forward for BP in meeting its commitment to economic and environmental restoration efforts in the Gulf and in eliminating legal risk facing the company."

A statement from plaintiffs' attorneys Steve Herman and Jim Roy praised the settlement program's administrator, Pat Juneau.

"This settlement has ? and will continue to ? bring the people and businesses of the Gulf the relief they deserve," the attorneys wrote.

The April 2010 blowout of BP's Macondo well triggered an explosion that killed 11 rig workers and spilled more than 200 million gallons of oil into the Gulf, closing much of it for months to commercial and recreational fishing and shrimping.

There is still a lot of litigation left, including a trial to identify the causes of BP's blowout and assign percentages of fault to the companies involved, Barbier wrote. That trial is scheduled next year.

"This is a positive development, but my focus remains on holding BP and the other defendants accountable for the extraordinary economic and environmental damage inflicted on Alabama," said Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange in a statement. "I look forward to going to trial in February."

Barbier said the settlement averts worries that litigation could continue for 15 to 20 years, as it did after the Exxon Valdez and Amoco Cadiz oil spills, creating a secondary disaster for those affected.

Barbier has not ruled on a medical settlement for cleanup workers and others who say exposure to oil or dispersants made them sick.

The agreement covers people and businesses in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and some coastal counties in eastern Texas and western Florida, and in adjacent Gulf waters and bays.

BP has already begun paying claims before the law required it, and is doing so "in an impressive fashion," Barbier wrote. He said the claims center processed 4,500 claims a week in November and has authorized nearly $1.4 billion in payments, and BP also has paid about $405 million on nearly 16,000 claims during a transitional process that ended June 4.

Barbier noted that lawyers' fees won't come out of settlements: BP has agreed to pay them separately.

As part of the settlement, BP will pay $2.3 billion to cover seafood-related claims by commercial fishing vessel owners, captains and deckhands. That fund is the settlement's only limit, Barbier wrote. He said that it is about five times the average industry gross revenue from 2007 to 2009 and, according to evidence provided, more than 19 times the revenue the industry lost in 2010.

After Barbier's preliminary approval in May, thousands of people opted out of the settlement to pursue their cases individually. More than 1,700 changed their minds and asked to be added back in by a Dec. 15 deadline, Barbier said.

Still unresolved are environmental damage claims brought by the federal government and Gulf Coast states against BP and its partners on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, and claims against Switzerland-based rig owner Transocean Ltd. and Houston-based cement contractor Halliburton.

BP also has paid or agreed to pay settlements of:

?a record $4.5 billion in criminal penalties, including $1.3 million in fines. U.S District Judge Sarah Vance has scheduled a Jan. 29 hearing to accept or reject that plea agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, which also includes guilty pleas to criminal charges involving the workers' deaths and to lying about the amount of oil spilled from the blown-out well.

?$525 million to the Securities and Exchange Commission, which accused it of misleading investors by lowballing the size of the spill.

Product Review: Glicco's Pasta Gravy | Flavorful World food and ...

Reviewer?s Note: Samples of the products discussed here were provided to me for reviewing purposes at no cost.

?Thick and Rich Flavor? promises the label on this product that recently arrived for review in the Flavorful World kitchen.? In claiming thus, the label tells no lies.

Having been burned by my share of runny tomato-based supermarket pasta sauces, I found the finely chunky texture of Glicco?s Pasta Gravy oddly comforting on first opening it.?The inviting aroma of tomato and herbs was enough to elicit a prompt spoonful tasted right from the jar.?When I took it, the first flavor notes to register on my tongue were of oregano and onion.

Intent on testing the product?s versatility in addition to its immediately encouraging taste, I used my sample to make three dishes.?My first outing consisted of lamb meatballs baked about halfway to doneness, then covered in Glicco?s Pasta Gravy and placed back into the oven to finish cooking.?Next, I moved on to a baked macaroni and cheese (extra sharp white cheddar and fontina) made with a b?chamel into which I stirred several tablespoons of the product.? After that it was all about spaghetti (selected for a more classic touch) and wilted fresh spinach, simmered in the sauce and topped with diced pork jowl bacon. In each case, not only did the product play nicely with all ingredients present, but with each dish it seemed that a different flavor element of came to the forefront of the gravy.?With the meatballs, the strength of the gravy?s onions lent depth to the dish.?The sweetness of creamy tomato ruled the macaroni and cheese.?When the gravy met my spaghetti, spinach, and bacon, herbal notes like oregano and basil came front and center.

Glicco?s Pasta Gravy seems more like something I would taste in the home of a friend or relative who cooks than something I would purchase and scoop out of a jar.?There may exist other pasta sauces that currently can claim greater brand recognition and are more widely available than Glicco?s.?However, based on my sampling and the sense of comfort I derived from enjoying something that tastes so homemade, I feel confident that I can go ahead and replace the word ?currently? in the preceding sentence with ?temporarily.?

Colorado's Bill Ritter said to be under consideration for Energy chief

Former Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter. (Kathryn Scott Osler, Denver Post file)

WASHINGTON???Former Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter is on the short list to be the next energy secretary.

Ritter, a one-term governor who is now leading Colorado State University's Center for the New Energy Economy, is among a small group of unofficial finalists to take over the Department, according to media reports.

Current Secretary Steven Chu has not made any formal announcement, but it has been broadly reported that he is expected to depart the administration in the next term.

Ritter told The Denver Post on Tuesday he was "flattered" to be among such distinguished names.

"It's a crucial time for the country to focus on energy policy among the other priorities," he said. "Energy has to be a priority going forward."

Ritter's push for a "new energy economy" became a top talking point in his four years as governor.

In his current job, he often talks about his balanced approach to boosting domestic energy production and jobs in Colorado, while being sensitive to Colorado's environment and producing oil and gas in a responsible way.

Ritter has said he is often asked to speak by energy companies who respected his work as governor.

The Western Energy Alliance, an industry trade group, refused to comment on Ritter's consideration.

As governor, Ritter also backed controversial legislation that could lead Xcel Energy to convert three of its coal-fired electric plants to use natural gas. The move won praise from environmentalists and the natural-gas industry ? but scorn from coal backers.

Ritter also successfully boosted the state's renewable energy standard from 20 percent to 30 percent in 2020.

Leading the short list of Energy finalists is Tom Steyer, a Democratic donor who helped bankroll an effort to defeat a proposal in California that would have rolled back some of the state's renewable energy efforts. The Washington Post first reported the list of names, including Ritter, Tuesday morning.

U.S. soybeans fall as China cancels deals

U.S. soybean futures dropped two per cent on Tuesday, their biggest daily decline in more than a month, due to China's decision to cancel a purchase of 300,000 tonnes of U.S. supplies, traders said.

Corn prices also fell, dragged lower by the weakness in soybeans and low demand from end users on the domestic and export front.

Wheat bucked the overall weakness in the grains complex, climbing for only the second time in eight sessions as a round of short covering hit the market when prices for the benchmark Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) March contract equaled a 5-1/2-month low.

A tender for supplies from Egypt, the world's top buyer of wheat, added support to the wheat market.

The U.S. Agriculture Department said the soybean cancellations also included 120,000 tonnes of supplies sold to unknown destinations in addition to the 300,000-tonne deal that China, the world's top buyer of soybeans, scuttled.

China's move suggested that demand for U.S. soybeans might be slowing down from its robust pace of the past few months, especially with harvest of the South American crop starting soon.

"I am a little surprised but let's look at it in the bigger scope," said Mark Schultz. "I was even more surprised that they bought as much as they did earlier. It is still a big number, even with the cancellations. We are a little bit surprised just because of where the price of beans are still at in China."

CBOT January soybean futures settled down 30-1/4 cents at $14.66 a bushel (all figures US$). Prices fell through key technical support points at the contract's 50-day and 200-day moving averages during the session. It was the front-month soybean contract's biggest drop in percentage terms since falling 2.1 per cent on Nov. 15.

CBOT March corn was 4 cents lower at $7.20 a bushel. CBOT March wheat gained 3-1/4 cents to $8.11-1/4 a bushel, settling above its 200-day moving average after hovering near that key technical level for much of the session.

Egypt's main wheat-buying agency, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), set a tender on Tuesday to buy an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for shipment Feb. 11-20. As part of the tender, GASC is seeking cargoes of 55,000 to 60,000 tonnes of different kinds of wheat, including two different classes of U.S. supplies.

Two major winter storms systems are set to sweep through much of the U.S. Plains and Midwest over the next two weeks leaving welcome soil moisture, said Don Keeney, agricultural meteorologist for MDA EarthSat Weather.

Snowfall ranging from 2 to 4 inches could be expected accompanied by some rain in this week's storm and an even bigger storm is expected next week.

"The six- to 10-day outlook is even more intense with 12 to 18 inches of snow in eastern Nebraska, Kansas and the
northern Midwest," Keeney said.

January milling wheat in Paris was off 1.25 euros or 0.5 per cent at 256.50 euros, with a firmer euro against the dollar adding to downward pressure.

One European trader said there was a growing belief that prices in Paris were not reflecting the good export outlook with Russia and Ukraine out of the market and "now there is a growing belief that poor harvest weather will also compel Argentina to cut back on exports, too."

Soy setback

Soybeans fell despite concerns over production shortfalls in South America, with further unfavourable weather forecast.

Widespread rainfall moved across Argentina over the weekend causing another slowdown in crop seedings and the rain is expected to continue through Wednesday, Global Weather Monitoring said.

Analysts remain concerned the window in which soybeans must be planted to avoid yield losses is closing, further tightening global stocks.

Estimates for the country's 2012-13 soy harvest, which should start in March, vary wildly. Government officials have said they expect a crop of 55 million tonnes or more while worst-case private estimates reach down to 45 million tonnes.

Iran warns Turkey over NATO's missile system

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) ? A top Iranian military commander warned Turkey on Saturday against stationing NATO anti-missile systems on its territory, saying such a move risks conflict with Syria.

The remarks by army chief of staff Gen. Hassan Firouzabadi were carried on state TV the day after the Pentagon announced it will send two batteries of Patriot missiles and 400 troops to Turkey as part of a larger NATO force to protect Turkish territory from potential Syrian missile attacks.

Firouzabadi said the Patriot deployment was aimed at protecting Israel from Iranian missile attacks and inhibit a potential Russian military defense of Syria.

"The wise and the elite in Europe, U.S. and Turkey should dismantle the Patriots and take them away from the region before a fire breaks out," Firouzabadi was quoted as saying. "We are a friend of Turkey, we want security with Turkey, not Turkey being attacked through Syria so that they would want to deploy Patriots there."

"Patriot missiles are a defense line for the Zionists and a result of (the West's) concerns over Iran's missiles and Russia's presence to defend Syria," he said. "Western countries approve the deployment of Patriots on the Syria-Turkey border as they design a world war," he said in a separate quote carried by state TV's website.

Iran and Russia are two of Damascus' key allies. Tehran has provided Assad with military and political backing for years, and has kept up its strong support for the regime since the Syrian uprising began in March 2011.

On Thursday, a top Russian diplomat said Syrian President Bashar Assad is losing control of his country. But on Friday, the Foreign Ministry issued a convoluted denial, saying its top envoy for Syria was merely characterizing the opinion of the Syrian opposition rather than stating Russia's view.

A number of Syrian shells have landed in Turkish territory since the conflict in the Arab state began in March 2011. Turkey has condemned Assad's regime, supported Syrian rebels and provided shelter to Syrian refugees. Ankara is particularly worried that Assad may get desperate enough to use chemical weapons.

In addition to the American Patriot deployment, Germany and the Netherlands also agreed to provide two batteries of the U.S.-built defense systems and send up to 400 German and 360 Dutch troops to man them, bringing the total number of Patriot batteries slated for Turkey to six.

Also Saturday, Iran's foreign minister said his country won't allow Assad's regime in Syria to fall.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran won't allow Western plans and scenarios aimed at overthrowing the Syrian government to succeed," Ali Akbar Salehi said in comments posted on state TV's website.
